The release workflow prints a SHA256 hash before upload. The exact value must be copied from the official GitHub release description.
Verify a downloaded ZIP in PowerShell
Compare the result against the SHA256 value published with the matching GitHub release. Do not use a hash copied from a mirror or third-party download page.

Unsigned publisher identity
Windows may show an Unknown Publisher or SmartScreen warning because this beta is not code signed.
Software overlay, not monitor firmware
The app reduces perceived brightness with local display overlays. It does not alter monitor firmware or the physical backlight setting.
Emergency shortcut is required
Full blackout remains unavailable if the global Alt + Shift + 0 emergency restore shortcut cannot register.
Blocked writes fall back safely
If Windows blocks the local settings file, the application continues with default settings rather than crashing.

Does NoBloat Dimmer require an account?
No. The released Windows utility does not require an account for its core functionality.
Does it upload display settings or usage behavior?
NoBloatTools is designed around local control and data minimization. Ordinary preferences and controls remain on the device whenever possible.
Why does Windows warn me about the publisher?
The current beta is not code signed, so Windows cannot display a verified publisher identity. The Trust & Help page explains how to confirm you are using the official release.
Where should I report a bug?
Use the public GitHub issue tracker or email nobloattools@proton.me. Include your Windows version, display count, GPU, scaling settings, and the steps that caused the problem.
