Tools / NoBloat Launch Control

Take back your
Windows startup.

NoBloat Launch Control brings apps, Registry entries, scheduled tasks, startup folders, and services into one understandable map with reversible controls.

Install without the mess.

The beta is distributed as a portable ZIP. The application requests elevated access only when a selected action requires it.

01 / Installation

Three clear steps.

Download the official ZIPUse NoBloatTools or the repository’s latest GitHub release.
Extract the archiveKeep the application files together in a normal folder.
Run the applicationReview discovered entries before changing startup behavior.
02 / Complete removal

Portable by design.

Undo any startup changes you want restored before deleting Launch Control’s safety data.

Re-enable or undo disabled entriesRestore startup items, scheduled tasks, and services you want returned to their original state.
Close Launch Control and delete the extracted folderThis removes the executable and packaged runtime files.
Delete local history and backups only after restorationRemove %LOCALAPPDATA%\NoBloatTools\LaunchControl. This contains settings, activity history, scan snapshots, and disabled Startup-folder files.

Registry and service backups are stored under Software\NoBloatTools\LaunchControl\Disabled in the applicable Windows registry hive. Re-enable affected entries in the app before manually deleting backup records.

One map. Reversible control.

The goal is visibility and control, not automatic cleanup or aggressive recommendations.

01 / Coverage

Unified startup map

Review startup applications, Registry entries, scheduled tasks, folders, and automatic services together.

02 / Context

Understand each entry

See publisher, scope, command, and location details before deciding whether to act.

03 / Reversibility

Backups and undo

Persistent configuration backups and activity history support one-click reversal of changes.

04 / Protection

System items stay guarded

Recognized Microsoft components and security services remain protected from casual changes.

Release details and verification.

The stable asset URL always targets the official latest release in the NoBloatTools repository.

Official assetNoBloatLaunchControl-win-x64.zip

Portable, self-contained Windows x64 release.

Stable filename used by the website
Verification statusSHA256 generated during publishing

The release workflow prints a SHA256 hash before upload. The exact value must be copied from the official GitHub release description.

Verify a downloaded ZIP in PowerShell

Get-FileHash .\NoBloatLaunchControl-win-x64.zip -Algorithm SHA256

Compare the result against the SHA256 value published with the matching GitHub release. A filename alone is not proof that a third-party copy is authentic.

Known beta limitations.

The current beta documents where Windows policy or privilege boundaries can affect behavior.

01 / Signing

Unsigned publisher identity

Windows may show an Unknown Publisher or SmartScreen warning because this beta is not code signed.

02 / Task discovery

PowerShell policy can limit one scanner

Scheduled-task discovery uses the built-in Get-ScheduledTask command. If local policy blocks it, Registry, Startup-folder, and service results still load.

03 / Elevation

System-wide changes need Administrator mode

Current-user scans and review can run normally, while protected or system-wide changes may require elevation.

04 / Services

Running services are not force-stopped

Disabling a service changes its future startup behavior. Launch Control does not terminate the service’s current process.

Release test scope.

The Beta 1 checklist covers every supported startup source and the reversible-control model.

1
Four source scanners

Registry Run keys, Startup folders, scheduled tasks, and automatic services.

2
Reversible user changes

Disable, re-enable, and undo for current-user Registry and Startup-folder items.

3
Privilege boundaries

System-wide toggles request Administrator mode when required.

4
Protection rules

Recognized Microsoft tasks, Windows services, and security components cannot be casually toggled.

5
Interface behavior

Search, filters, accents, density, window presets, free resizing, F11, Escape, and activity undo.

The current information model emphasizes discovery counts, review context, and explicit user decisions.

Current beta expectations.

Startup configuration is sensitive. Review before changing, keep backups, and report anything that looks wrong.

Windows may show “Unknown publisher.”

The beta is not code signed. Use only the official NoBloatTools website or GitHub release page. Do not download repackaged copies from file mirrors.

Frequently asked questions.

Decisions stay with the user.

Does Launch Control automatically disable startup items?

No. Its purpose is to present Windows startup sources clearly and provide reversible controls. The user chooses what to change.

Why can startup entries require administrator access?

Some system-wide Registry entries, scheduled tasks, and services are protected by Windows. Elevated permission may be required when a selected action affects those locations.

Can I undo a change?

The application is designed around persistent backups, activity history, and one-click undo. Keep the application’s backup data until you are satisfied with the result.

Where should I report a bug or incorrect classification?

Use the GitHub issue tracker or email nobloattools@proton.me. Include the entry type, publisher, scope, command, and what you expected to happen.
